Considering buying a new air conditioner?
You need to keep in mind what your individual needs are.
Not every air conditioner is going to suit every person and every home.
So just because your mate Todd has a particular air conditioner that he swears by doesn’t necessarily mean it will suit what you need. I mean what else has Todd been right about?
Just a couple of questions you should ask before you purchase,
- How noisy will the unit be?
- How energy efficient is the unit?
- What system is right for me?
- Which brands are good?
Most people aren’t sure how to answer these crucial questions that must be asked before investing in a new air conditioning system.
You can do your research online and read reviews, but it’s always best to get a professional in. That way, they can measure up your space and provide you with all the information they have from years of experience that will help you choose the best unit to suit your home.
If you buy an air-conditioner from a retail shop that has not been sized up to meet your specific needs, it’s possible the unit is not running to its proper capacity, costing you money.
Do you really want to spend your hard earn money only to find out that the system you bought didn’t suit your needs? This is why it is best to talk to the people who install and service the systems and not from a toaster salesman.
What are the different types of Air Conditioners you can get?
This will give you an idea of what might suit your needs and help you rule out what won’t.
Just like the name suggests these have two parts: one indoor unit and an outdoor unit, connected by pipes containing refrigerant gas. Split systems are the most common air conditioner type in Australia and are suitable for cooling/heating a room, or open-plan area up to about 60 square metres.
Similar to a split-system, with one outdoor unit connected to two or more indoor units. Suitable for two or three rooms that are reasonably close together, especially when separate split-systems or a ducted system aren’t suitable. These can be a little more expensive to install than two separate split systems.
These systems have a central unit that needs to be installed either in the roof space or under the house. A ducted system is connected by air ducts to air outlets in each room. Great for cooling and heating an entire home.
Now that you have an idea of which system could be the best option for your house the next question you may have is…
“So which brand is the right choice for me?”
There are many brands on the market which makes it hard when you’re trying to decide on the perfect one for you. The brands we think stand out above the rest are;
- Mitsubishi Electric
One of the benefits of using one of these reputable brands is that they have offices in Sydney. So in the off chance something goes wrong with your air conditioning system, you can have it fixed quickly as parts are much easier and quicker to obtain.
There is no long waiting for parts to come from overseas while you are sweating it out in the heat.
